BRKVVT-2011 “Upgrading CUCM to 7.1″

BRKVVT-2011 “Upgrading CUCM to 7.1″

My first session of the day on June 29th was BRKVVT-2011 “Best Practices for Migrating Previous Versions of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) to CUCM 7.1. The session took place in Moscone West, room 2008. The presenter was Brandon Ta, a Technology Solutions Architect at Cisco, and he gave a great presentation about strategies to use when upgrading CUCM.

Brandon described three different types of upgrades: Flash-cut, Migration and Hybrid. He gave specific strategies and scenarios for each type of upgrade and discussed when each might be appropriate. I shot more than an hour of video, which I broke up into ~5 minute segments for easier manipulation. The video is uploading to my YouTube channel as time permits. With this much video, it will take quite awhile to get it all uploaded. Once some of the key sections are uploaded, I’ll embed them in an update to this post.

Checking in at Delta.com

Checking in at Delta.com

I just checked in for my flight at Delta.com. I have been a loyal customer of Delta Airlines for years, and they have always treated me very well. In the past 12 months, my travel for work has been significantly reduced and I now work from home. Although I miss the perks of being a “Platinum Elite” member of the Delta Skymiles program (a great rewards program, btw), I am actually not too sad to have lost my status. This is my last year as a Silver member, but somehow Delta managed to pass along a First-Class upgrade for the Atlanta to San Francisco leg of my flight today. Thanks Delta!

Live Blogging and Vlogging from CiscoLive 2009

Live Blogging and Vlogging from CiscoLive 2009

I’ll be headed out to CiscoLive 2009 in San Francisco in a day and a half. Throughout the trip, I will be live-blogging and video-blogging the event and all of the various sessions that I attend. I will also be Tweeting from both my personal account (@andymahaney) and the eLoyalty Twitter account (@eloyalty). I’ll even try to rope some of the other eLoyalty folks into posting here.

Don’t forget to stop by the eLoyalty booth at CiscoLive in San Francisco’s Moscone Center. We are in booth #449, which is located in the back of the World of Solutions. Seriously though – if you travel all the way to SF for the conference, would it hurt to walk the last few feet to our booth? We’ll have experts representing the various areas of our business. We’d love to speak with you about Cisco Contact Center products (UCCE and UCCX), Unified Communications (UC), Collaboration, Voice over IP (VoIP), Managed Services and Support, Systems Integration, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Social Media for Customer Service, or your favorite local sports team if you prefer.

See you at CiscoLive!
